Yahoo Merchant Solutions generated UPS labels print off center in Firefox but not in IE.

I have an online business hosted through Yahoo Merchant Solutions. For long time we have used Firefox as our primary browser. YMS generates UPS labels for shipping our products. We print them on to the standard UPS adhesive labels (2 per 8.5x11 sheet). Yesterday worked fine, today the label artwork will not print in the center of the label. It is so far off center that it is part way onto the neighboring label.

Still works fine if I use Internet Explorer. I did try clearing the history. (I think that Firefox updated the other day...)

That page was worth mentioning. I did what I could from those Instructions before posting to the Forum. My meager skills let me do the first two "Check" routines, but not the two "Reset" routines. From reading the Forum it appears that version 11 is still buggy. I'm thinking of downgrading clear back to 3.6 to see if that helps the printing issue. But that seems a bit extreme. I would love to back up just to 10.0.2 but can not figure out any way to do so...(instructions to do so are welcome)

I think resetting the printer is within your grasp. (The other reset could be overkill.) I don't know whether this is equivalent to the reset, but you could try this: change to a different printer in the Print dialog, print to that, then change back to your regular print and print to that. If you don't have a second physical printer, you could change to a virtual printer (e.g., a PDF printer driver). Does that make any difference?

While it is possible to track down Firefox 10.0.2, it isn't recommended because Mozilla has already published information about the security vulnerabilities in that version which were fixed in Firefox 11.

I tried the idea of printing my PDF printer, then back to printing paper. It did not work. Would have been great if it had...

Any other ideas?

You still can try the full printer reset. Rather than edit a file in your profile folder, you can right-click each of the settings for that printer in the about:config screen and choose Reset.

If you don't want to use about:config, you could test using Firefox's Safe Mode, which should use the default settings.

First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See Backing up your information. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)

Next, save all work (e.g., email you are composing) and use Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled to enter Safe Mode. In the dialog, don't check any boxes, just click "Continue in Safe Mode."

If the labels print correctly, then a setting or add-on is the most likely culprit. Tracking it down would be the next step.

Alternately, you can close Firefox and fire up the Profile Manager. (See: Managing profiles.) With a new blank profile, you can rebuild your add-ons collection from scratch, and copy your bookmarks, saved passwords, and (selectively) other settings from your problem profile. (See: Recovering important data from an old profile.)

Hope this helps.
