Firefox won't start after update

I am running windows xp pro service pack 3. After upgrading to firefox 10 last week firefox browser window will not open. Task manager shows it running but the window never opens.

I have removed every piece of virus/internet/firewall protection I had installed. I have uninstalled firefox and removed every trace of firefox and mozilla from the registry (using regseeker). I have removed/created/removed/created numerous profiles. I have tried numerous times to open FF in safemode.

This new version of FF simply will not open on my Aspire One netbook. FF is my web browser of choice and was working fine before the recent update.
