Firefox bookmarks - default sort order for Tags and Search

Can anybody tell me what Firefox's default order is for sorting bookmarks when doing a search in the sidebar or when clicking on a 'Recent Tag' folder?

In both cases the bookmark results are listed in an order that I cannot determine (it's not by date, name, last visited, number of visits, date modified, date added etc.)

Is there some other means by which 'relevance' is being determined to affect the order in which bookmarks are listed in search results and tag folders?

I will often get very similar bookmarks listed at opposite ends of the results, or very frequently used sites buried at the bottom of the list with rarely used ones at the top.

Sure, with regards to tag folders I can just click one of the column headings to get a more logical and predictable sort order, but in sidebar search results there is no such option and you have to just put up with whatever random order Firefox chooses to display matching results.
