why doesn't multiple file selection work?

https://jpg2pdf.com/ is an example on Android where if I select 1 file, it works. Soon as I select more than 1, it fails.

I copied some JavaScript to select input file from the internet and tried it on my phone and it fails the same way. Basically single file select works but as soon as multi-select is chosen the result is unpredictable and the list has a length of 1
