I have updated QuickTime to 7.7.6, but plugin check still shows 'vulnerable' version 7.6.9.

I tried a couple of times, uninstalled and re-installed QuickTime, rebooted computer, restarted Firefox. I note that Bugzilla has a record: Bug 1109774 - quicktime info in plugincheck to 7.7.6 which states "RESOLVED FIXED ". Maybe not?

Have you tried not using QuickTime. Unless you specifically need it i think most if not all websites will work without it. (QuickTime is kind of out of date itself as a program. It isn't used much anymore)

This is a know issue with the update checker. If the programs web site says you are up to date, then you are fine.

Thanks for the reassurance, but is it possible that the plugin part of the Quicktime installation (pardon lack of detailed technical knowledge here) could remain as the outdated version, whilst the main (standalone) Quicktime player is up-to-date?

Thanks for your time & attention

Good point, it will have been installed initially for something specific, but I can't remember what. I may try killing it and see what happens.

Good luck. Please respond if it works out. This could help other people as well.
