I get the message"Thunderbird is already open.... I have deleted the default profile and recreated it. Same thing happens When I search for the profile for thunderbird under "ROAMING" it does not exist

Thunderbird profile folders are hidden files and folders.

Make hidden files and folders visible:

locate Thunderbird Profile:

C:\Users\<Windows user name>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\<Profile name>\

  • look for this file parent.lock file....see image
  • delete parent.lock file

Then open Thunderbird.
