After startup Firefox only visible maximized

Hi, Problem 1. After starting up Firefox, there is for only one second a very small window top left named Firefox. After that it disappears and Firefox can only be viewed maximized. This is very annoying on 21" screen.

Problem 2. For some time now I have this "overlay" problem. When starting up Firefox right after starting up Outlook Express, the two windows seem to sort of "melt" together and are difficult to seperate.
