Is it possible or safe to share some files (i.e., bookmarks) between 2 Firefox versions?
I have both Firefox 3.6.13 and Firefox 4.0beta10 installed,
- in separate program folders on the hard drive
- with separate profiles.
I would like to share, but not simultaneously, the bookmarks.sqlite file with both versions, without making a copy before opening each version.
- Is it possible, or even safe, to direct both to the same bookmarks.sqlite file so that it can be shared as described?
- If it is possible, and safe, what pref would I need to set in Firefox 4.0beta10 to use the bookmarks.sqlite file in the Firefox 3.6.13 profile.

The bookmarks are stored in places.sqlite. It is not possible to share this file between different profiles.
I have multiple versions of Firefox with multiple profiles, and I use Firefox Sync to synchronize the bookmarks.

Thanks, TonyE. Before long it will be only Firefox 4 anyway. I will look into Sync for syncing multiple profiles.
