Starred messages in folders [number given does not include them]

The number of starred messages showing from INBOX does not include starred messages in folders. Is there a way to search for all starred messages, or [preferred] to have a folder that SHOWS all starred messages. I like to put starred messages in appropriate folders, but also like to review them regularly in case they were "dated" or no longer deserve the starred status. Thanks, and BTW, I am 69, a semi-retired pastor, so make it simple for me if you can. Blessings, Dave

Via 'Menu Bar' toolbar

  • 'Edit' > 'Find' > 'Search Messages'
  • OR use 'Ctrl+Shift+F' keys
  1. Search for messages: select the mail account name - not a folder.
  2. Select checkbox 'Search subfolders'
  3. Select 'Match all of the following'
  4. Select 'Status' and 'is' and 'Starred'
  5. click on 'Search' button
  6. click on 'Save as Search folder'
  7. Give search folder a name such as 'All Starred'
  8. Select a location where this search folder should be located eg: name of mail account
  9. click on 'Choose'
  10. Select all the necessary folders in all the mail account whcih you want included.
  11. click on 'OK'
  12. Click on 'Create'

A folder called 'All Starred' will now appear in the Folder Pane.

If you need to modify anything such as remove a folder from the search or add a new one etc.

  • Right click on the 'All Starred' folder and select 'Properties'
  • Click on 'Choose' to modify selection
  • click 'OK'
  • click on 'Update'

Note this search folder should keep up to date.
