Mouse wheel is selecting pages from my history

more options

This is a little hard to describe, but pressing sideways on the wheel on my thinkpad mouse changes what is displayed on the screen. It appears to go back and forth through the history list, depending on whether the wheel is pushed to the right or left. Not talking about rolling / scrolling with the wheel, but pushing sideways on it.

How can I stop this?

mousewheel.default.action is currently = 1 mousewheel.with_shift.action = 4

Not sure what these settings do, but somebody suggested them.

Thanks

These actions are called "Back"/"Forward". The mouse is probably programmed to send these commands to the computer, much like pressing the "Back"/"Forward" keys on some 2000's fancy keyboards with multimedia controls would. Try searching for device settings in your computer or finding a mouse driver that can unmap them, as these are likely not browser-specific.

Keywords that will help you find assistance online: unmap back/forward mouse buttons (because some mice have special buttons, and for the hardware there is no way to tell between a button making contact and a microswitch activated by wheel tilting)

I guess you could remap them to something more useful to you, like tab switching. Its keyboard shortcut is Ctrl+(Shift)+Tab.
