thunderbird doesn't accept app specific icloud password

Hi, I installed thunderbird on my new computer shortly after the apple security updates which switched my account to two factor authenication.

Thunderbird didn't accept my password, so I went to the apple id website and created an app specific password. But thunderbird doesn't accept that either.

Have tried several times now, both with the old password and with several generated app specific ones. Nothing seems to work... (desktop computer running on windows 10)

Thanks, Lieven

Thanks for the reply sfhowes!

I followed the instructions, removed the saved password, closed and restarted thunderbird and generated a new app specific password that I filled in when prompted.

Unfortunately I got the same messages. The password was refused... My gmail account runs fine on the same thunderbird.

Thanks, Lieven

It works!

user name for incoming did the trick.

Many many thanks. So great to work in my good old reliable thunderbird environment again :)

And kudos for your work on this forum. I hope all the relief and avoided frustation you bring about in the world comes back to you in karma. Or chocolate. Or both.

Cheers, Lieven
