I want to download all emails in a folder to a CD for backup purposes
For the past 2 years I have held volunteer leadership positions in a community organisation, and I have received many emails (as well as sent many) in my capacity. I now need to download these to a CD for storage for a couple of years just in case someone calls looking for an email or email trail. That might seem strange, but just last week someone called and asked me about an email I sent in August or September 2014! I don't want to back-up the whole email system, just a few folders and sub-folders. Can anyone offer me some advice on how to do this, please? Thanks in Advance! Alison

I'd recommend to backup the entire Thunderbird profile. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/profiles-tb#w_backing-up-a-profile
Thanks Christ1, I already have done this, but I want to keep a separate back-up with just these email folders in a different place. (My hope is not to ever need to go back to them, but given that I have had to go back almost two years already, I am not holding my breathe!)
Since you only want to archive a few folders, why not use the ImportExportTools add-on to export them? It has several format options, including exporting an entire folder as a .PDF file or exporting each message as a separate HTML or plain text file (plus an index).
Archiving your mail has a couple of other options (beyond the built-in archive feature which I don't think does what you want)
Thanks Tanstaafl, I thought the export was the whole thing - I will have a go at this, because PDF format would be more workable! I Alison
