I can no longer move emails to a folder (recent problem as used to be able) Now, it opens in a new tab when I click on it to try to drag it over. Suggestions?

Could it be that your message tabs setting has become corrupted? Usually a double click opens mail in a new tab. Perhaps try altering the settings, closing and restarting Thunderbird etc., to see if you can get the behaviour to change: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/message-tabs
sounds like a mouse failure, not software
