when i try to switch to private browsing it says the url is not valid and cannot be loaded?

whenever i try to browse through private browsing mode it says the url is invalid and cannot be loaded. th colour of top bar does change to violet but the websites visited are remembered.

First thing to check is if your date / time is set correctly in Windows. (the easiest)

That is supposed to be fixed in Firefox 10 which is due to be released later today.

You can force an update by using Help > About Firefox - not every Firefox installation will automatically be offered that update today or tomorrow, and maybe not for a few days to a week.
