After I restored bookmarks from backup, the Bookmarks tab->Show All Bookmarks does not show my bookmarks although they are still available under the Bookmarks tab; this means I cannot manage my bookmarks from the Show All Bookmarks after the restore.

Try to delete places.sqlite and then try again to restore that JSON backup.

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Thanks, with firefox closed I replaced the faulty copy of places.sqlite with a copy from another synchronised computer, problem solved.
