I'm having issues accessing my email account via outlook.live.com using Firefox as the browser

KayTa

When I try accessing my email on outlook.live.com using Firefox as the browser, I am now encountering verification captchas after entering the password and having to get a code sent to another device every single time, whereas using Edge as the browser I am not confronted with verification captchas or codes after entering the password. I have ensured the password is correct in both situations. Also, it is impossible to access outlook.live.com tech support from the email account when Firefox is the browser and it is possible to do so when Edge is the browser. But Firefox is in all other ways superior as a browser. What can be done to fix this issue, which has cropped up in the past few weeks?

It is pretty common to have one-time verification. Once you pass, the site usually sets a cookie so that the next time you sign in, the site is aware that your browser has been verified and that doesn't need to be repeated. Is it possible that the verification cookie is not surviving from one session to the next? That could be caused by:

  • Using a private window (private windows keep cookies in memory for the duration of your session, but they are gone after that)
  • Setting Firefox to clear cookies when it closes (there is a new place to set an exception if you want to clear cookies for other sites but not live.com)
  • Using external software that cleans Firefox data

Does any of that sound like it might be contributing to the problem?
