Number 1: I have filters that work on new messages that come in but I still have email in my inbox that the filter is not moving to the designated folder as defined in the filter. Is this due to some setting? I use Thunderbird for multiple gmail accounts. Need help because I have a huge inbox and it needs managed into multiple folders and I can't seem to get it to work. It worked one time in the past but I am not sure why it doesn't now.  ???

Number 2: Does the retention policy for a folder actually send a delete instruction to the server? I want to know how I can do that so I am actually deleting messages at the server as well. What all info do you need?

1. The problem is usually with the logic of the filter. If you share a screenshot, people may be able to help.

2. Whenever a message is deleted in Thunderbird, it should get deleted on the server too. At least in IMAP accounts. I know nothin about POP. You may want to put this query in its own post and see what others say.
