Links in received emails not functioning properly

For some reason, instead of the linked content in my received messages functioning properly, when I mouse over them all that I get is the little magnifying glass that will zoom in or zoom out on the content: the links no longer function. I have tried full reboot, but that had zero effect. I am on a Mac with OS 15.1.1 using Thunderbird 128.6.1esr (64-bit).

I like using Thunderbird, but if this continues I will have to go back to using another client or simply revert to using the webmail version of gmail.
