Why are you installing addons into my browser without my knowledge or consent?
I found your looking glass addon installed in my browser. I was not notified of this installation, Nor did I give my consent. What, exactly makes you think this is acceptable or ethical behavior?

Without even knowing it, you may have volunteered for this Mozilla experiment, called 'Shield studies'
Would you please go to :
Options => Privacy & Security => under 'Data Collection and Use' :
Did you uncheck : 'Allow Firefox to install and run studies' or is it checked ?
To check if you are enrolled in these studies :
Type in the address bar about:studies
Any extensions that you see listed there, you can either disable or remove.

I most CERTAINLY did NOT enroll in the shield studies. It WAS checked and I have already taken the steps to remove myself from this intrusive information grab. Thanks to this breach of privacy I have migrated to Chrome, and am encouraging everyone I know to do the same. It is extremely disturbing to know that Mozilla is automatically enrolling people in their research program. I have not manually updated firefox in years, so this happened during an automatic update, and no confirmation dialog was shown to inform me of this change. Shady shady business practices from a company that purports to be all about customer privacy.

My problem wasn't the addon, my problem was that Mozilla finds it OK to install things without notice, that problem has NOT been solved.

They are as this extension had no privacy concerns nor does it collect or share any data.
Mozilla has bowed to the people who have been making this collaboration into a bigger issue than need be by uninstalling the extension for users and the extension will instead soon be hosted on addons.mozilla.org/firefox/
