Firefox seems to hang or pause for approx 10 seconds after selecting a file in a file upload field

Windows 7.

This happens on every website that uses a file input box to upload images/files.

I click browse.

Select a file and click 'open' in the file browser window.

Then firefox seems to hang or pause for anything between 5-12 seconds, after this time the file name appears in the file input field - you can't interact with the browser at all during this time.

Can be reproduced every time i run firefox - does not happen in I.E or any other browser on this machine.
