I can't install the new upgrade. It tells me to make sure other copies of firefox are not running, then restart. I have done that many times, and keep getting the same error message. I got rid of all my previous firefox files and STILL can't install.
When I try to install, message says "computer must be restarted to complete previous uninstall". I have done that several times, both on my account and administrator. It doesn't do anything.

Try to download Firefox version 7.0.1 from http://www.mozilla.org/ by clicking the download button in the web page with the right button of the mouse to a local folder. After download is finish close firefox. After that, install Firefox from the local folder.
I can't open Firefox at all, because it's not on my computer anymore. I am using Chrome this morning. I do have the Firefox 7 setup on my desktop, but I can't install it - I get the message that "computer must be restarted to complete previous uninstall). I reboot and it still doesn't work
I did download it to a local file but when I try ti install it it keeps telling me Firefox must be closed to proceed with the installation. I do not have it open. Can I not talk direct to a tech support person or should I just go back to Internet Explorer instead of screwing around like this?
Glad to know I'm not alone. I couldn't find anyone to help. I am using Chrome at the moment - pretty easy and fast. I have IE as well, but it's a little slower. If you find an answer, let me know. I love Firefox, but this really stinks!
Firefox, instead of forwarding us to other persons, how about YOU answering the question, and telling me how to fix the proble??????????????????
COMPUTER MUST BE RESTARTED TO COMPLETE A PREVIOUS UPGRADE TO FIRE FOX. This keeps coming up.
My Firefox problem is actually fixed, but no thanks to Mozilla. My computer guy was here and looked at the problem. There was a file left from the uninstall that he had to SEARCH for. Once he deleted that, it reinstalled. In the meantime, I started with Chrome, and like it better.
