VPN shows its location in Iran or Parkisan.....when signing with your VPN ...WITHIN US location (selected)

Paul Harvey

While using your VPN service, Facebook warned me that my login appeared to originate from Iran or India, even though I had specifically selected a U.S. server.

This raises serious concerns about the reliability and security of your VPN service. When I select a U.S. location, I expect my connection to appear as originating from the United States, not from another country.

Your VPN service is clearly not functioning as expected. I would appreciate an explanation of why Facebook detected my connection as coming from Iran or Pakistan despite my U.S. server selection.

Thank you

Paul

Hi Paul, a few users reported the same thing recently, also with Facebook (these are unsolved threads):

It's not clear why Facebook's reverse IP lookup gives this result. It would be best to confirm it on another site or two.

It's possible VPN users from these regions then allow precise geolocation so Meta conflates the service IP with the real GPS of the user — causing this confusion for the next person using the same address.

If you check the real exit node location as seen e.g. by ipinfo.io/what-is-my-ip you should get the expected result there.
