Assistance with Read Receipt and Delivery Status Notification

Thank you for taking the time to read my email.

I have been trying to determine why I do not receive read receipts after selecting Return Receipt and Delivery Status Notification under the Options tab when sending emails. This has been an ongoing issue for more than 10 years.

I am currently using Thunderbird version 152.0 on one computer and 140.10.2 ESR (32-bit) on another. Despite trying numerous settings and troubleshooting steps over the years, I have never been able to receive a read receipt.

I would be truly grateful if you could guide me in the right direction or let me know if there is a setting I may have overlooked. If there are any troubleshooting steps or additional information you need from me, I would be happy to provide it.

Return receipts are optional. If you check your thunderbird settings, you have the option to ignore return receipts. That is true also for your recipients. This is not a feature on which you should rely.

I'm very confused about your email.

I explained that I have been using TB for many years.

Please tell me where in TB 152.0 can I find to the setting in TB to send me a read receipt. I can't find it anywhere.

Additionally where can I find if I am sent a read receipt. I've never seen one.

David's point is that the people receiving your messages must enable the sending of read receipts to you. You don't get them just by asking for them. The probable reason why you have not received any is that your recipients are not sending them.

The options that you control in Thunderbird are in account settings > return receipts.

I believe that read receipts, when they do arrive, are in your inbox.
