Thunderbird behaves as if installed from scratch
On Windows 10 Pro 2004 build 19041.928. Thunderbird 78.13.0 (32-bit).
Thunderbird updates every now and then and I'm not sure it didn't since I last ran it. But all I did today was to start it up like every other day. Normally, it finds all my account settings and emails. But today it starts up with nothing and insists on getting me to set things up. This looks like a clean installation with no existing profile. Recreating all my accounts and all my settings would be a hell of a pain. More importantly, I must be able to access my mail base. What on earth happened? There has to be a simple way to reconnect the application with my profile. Michael

In fact, there weren't any other prefs.js in the profile folder and the one there was ridiculously small. But I copied from a fairly recent back up (my latest, of course). That seems to have done the trick. I reckon that will have set back a few timestamps. But you must know that is harmless or you wouldn't have offered it as a solution. Anyway, all is looking good now. So, thank you very much, @sfhowes. Regards, Michael
