Down-arrow in URL address bar

more options

I downloaded Firefox 77.0.1 today and no longer have the down-arrow in the URL bar. Yesterday I searched and found how to get it back. Now with 77.0.1 I no longer have it and the solution I found yesterday does not fix it either. Would like to get the down-arrow back and for Mozilla to stop taking that feature away.

Hi dennis.sellers, unfortunately the "Show History" button in the address bar is not slated to return. Maybe that will change at some point, but for now, this is my suggested workaround:

Firefox 77:

if you double-click the

browser.urlbar.openViewOnFocus

preference in about:config to switch it to false, then you can show the history list using any of these methods:

Original List

  • If the address bar is blank, press the spacebar key or press the down arrow key
  • If the address bar shows the current page address, delete the address (tap Esc to restore the address when desired)

Similar List

  • Type the ^ character in the address bar

Firefox 78-79:

If you double-click the

browser.urlbar.suggest.topsites

preference in about:config to switch it to false, then you can show the history list using any of these methods:

Original List

  • If the address bar is blank, press the spacebar key
  • If the address bar shows the current page address, press the spacebar key to replace it with a space (tap Esc to restore the address when desired)

Similar List

  • Type the ^ character in the address bar

If you can't live without a button, I have an add-on to show a very similar history list that you can add to the main toolbar (outside the address bar). If you try it, let me know if there are any improvements you'd like to see:

hello Dennis ,

please follow this given step ,I hope resolve the problem:

I read that this preference is more important for this problem, but haven't tested myself:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste URLB and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the browser.urlbar.openViewOnFocus preference to switch the value from true to false

Any difference?

Thank you!
