I'm trying to finish my sync set up page. Keep in mind I am an amateur on a computer. I can do simple things like create files, use bookmarks, just basic stuff. I' m not familiar with the terms, and I can't find things very easy. Example: where is about.config? I think I know what it is but have no clue where to find it. My point is, if you have an answer to my question please provide plenty of specific details. When I started the sync set up I was prompted for email and password. I used an old computer back in the day so I must have started something with FF. I really don't know. I chose the reset password link. After resetting my password it took me to the next page where a tab appeared in the top, right hand side of the window. I have no idea what it said or what it's for, I only caught a glimpse of it.I must have done something wrong, because tabs started loading at an alarming rate. [Not the first time.] My only option was to shut down and restart. As a result I didn't finish my sync set up pages. I can go to the log in page, log in, and a small window comes up with a "manage" button in it. It also has three links, sign in, delete account, or change password. When I click on manage it takes me to the options window. .After a lot of research I realized I need a key and a confirmation email. The set up FF sync article only pertains to devices not computers.I have spent all of today researching every article i could find with no results. I thought about deleting the account and starting over, but I don't know if FF will let me create a new account. I would really like to finish setting up my account and use the sync feature. Can anyone help? I could use some fresh ideas.

There's no "key" for the current version of Sync. That was a feature which was last used in Firefox 28!

Just start all over with Sync - there is no limit to the number of Sync accounts that you create. Although, you will need a new email address for having multiple Sync accounts.

Overall, I have created 6 different Sync accounts over the years; 3 are currently in use on different Profiles. I use those accounts to compare and contrast how Sync responds to different pref settings; along with having a different set of bookmarks in each - work - play - Firefox support.

That old Sync account isn't any good with a Firefox 29 or later version. That "key" is no longer used and if you changed the account password, your data was wiped from the Sync server.

Best thing to do is to start from scratch and set up a new Sync account. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-set-up-firefox-sync

Once Sync completes the initial Sync on that device [which may take some time], you can go about setting up an additional device. Allow each device to complete the initial Sync before moving on to the next device.

I don't think I've had FF sync before.I am using FF35 which is the latest version, right? My sync account is running. I took notes yesterday on all the answers I had found info sync progress, how to tell if sync was working. I looked at my notes today and all the info was gone.I didn't click save and lost all my research.Rookie mistake. I s there a way to retrieve it?

I tried to cancel sync but it wouldn't let me.My account is active and working, I just never got my key or confirmation email.Ikeep all my emails from Mozilla in a filein yahoo.I am positive I didn't receive those two items. There must be a way to access the email and key.
I did notice when I drop my menu my email address is where start sync

is supposed to be. And an icon I think is for sync Two arrows in a circle. It seems to me that I can't be the only one who hasn't got an email or a key. Do you think I should try to cancel my account again? I'm at a total loss. Thanks!.

Thanks, I figured that part out yesterday. That was after going through many articles. I went to Google, typed in "FF key" and found my answer in two seconds! I did figure out how to get a new confirmation email on my own..First, click on menu > options > sync > manage. This takes you to sync account sign in. Click on delete account. They will ask if you're sure, click yes. A message will pop up saying you won't lose any data. Then open the menu, your email address should be replaced with sign in to sync, Click on that, fill in your information and the address confirmation button will appear. Make sure you have your email account opened up in another tab, they don't give you much time before it expires. Click on the button and check your email. Open the Firefox accounts email and click on the verify button . If you don't receive an email in two minutes, go back to the sync sign in page, click on resend and check your email again. If you haven't received your confirmation, check your spam, make sure you entered your address correctly and add Firefox accounts to your contact list.
