Firefox 6 hangs all the time. Cleared history, checked malware, virus. Why does it still hang?
Firefox hangs unexpectedly all the time. I have cleared history, checked malware and viruses, still hangs all the time. Also are you going to have Java and Google toolbar anytime soon. You said it would only be a couple of weeks, been much longer than that.

I want Firefox 5 back. But guess what: Mozilla has taken all the sites down!
Later: Well, I found Firefox 5.1 after MUCH searching. Guess what? My 2-pane bookmarks are back, it's super-fast and NO hanging. Take that, Mozilla! I'll never "upgrade"!

I had this problem before FF 6. I thought 6 solved the problem, but it just hanged again on a site with msnbc video - if that helps anyone.
Firefox 6 hangs on my computer after about 5 minutes of use (OS=XP Prof).
I listened to a video on youtube where the video author recommended disabling an extension called "Microsoft .Net Framework Assistant." The video is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTnTD9WTuIU.
I disabled the .Net extension (it was incompatible with Firefox 6 anyway) and the freezing problem magically disappeared.
I have been a Firefox fan for years. This is absolutely the worst update I've ever seen. C'mon Mozilla. I'll be using 5.0 until this hanging when web pages are loading is resolved.
How do you go back to V5?? Problems with IE9 and Mozilla 6...what a person to do? It is ridiculous and frustrating...and these discussion pages...well if you are lucky and have oodles of time, you might get an answer. NOT!!
I've been having the problem with as few as two tabs opening. The only time it does not do it is in safe mode. I have cleared my history, turned on the plugins one at a time, and run virus check. With any plugins turned on, it hangs every couple of web pages opened.
So where did you find it and what did you have to do to go back to that version?
I solved the problem. I d/l Chrome and started using it. No more hangs and it works with Java unlike the new Firefox. Guess I won't be going back anytime soon.
I agree, and I can't go back to 5.0, so I'm here using... HEY MOZILLA LISTEN UP!! I'm here right now (after firefox 6. crashed AGAIN) USING CHROME!! IT'S THAT BAD.
I am now using Chrome and FF6 at the same time so when FF6 crashes I can at least keep going... if Chrome had some of the FF extensions I love I'd switch right now.
