Here is a previous question thread that had an excellent solution provided that should be able to help you. I have personally tried the instructions in the post and it does work as intended.

You can also refer to the attached screenshot if you need additional context on how to run the command (just click the Windows icon button on your taskbar and type in "firefox.exe -p").

This is the relevant support article. Refreshing is a last resort. I suggest you create a new profile instead. You can do that with Firefox open or closed. You can remove the old profile later when you have retrieved any data you may want.
