On Monday September 25th from 10PM EDT - 12AM EDT (2AM UTC - 4AM UTC on September 26th), we will be performing system maintenance on the Firefox Accounts databases for two hours. During the maintenance window, there will be brief periods of a few minutes where users will not be able to login to their accounts. Please try again at a later time.

Windows just performed an update 6/12/2019 and my bookmarks are gone. Does Firefox do backups or was I suppose to be doing it?

Is all hope lost? I assumed Firefox performed backups for bookmarks. Was I suppose to do this? Microsoft forced an update on my computer and Firefox bookmarks are gone. Other apps are in a similar condition.

After re-reading your question: did Windows do one of those really major updates that might have moved your data to a folder named

C:\Windows.old

If you see that folder, before exploring further, please turn on viewing of hidden files and folders:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/14201/windows-show-hidden-files

The try to find:

C:\Windows.old\Users\your-user-name\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

Do you have anything there?

Sorry to hear about this problem -- all hope is not lost.

If you haven't already, could you close out of Firefox and do a normal Windows shutdown and restart to complete any pending updates and release any file locks.

If Firefox again starts up without your bookmarks, could you check whether any recent backups are available through the Restore menu. This article will get you there: Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer.

Anything so far?
