Every time I try to open Firefox, it shows up trying to open AOL. And it is frozen in that screen. I have uninstalled and reinstalled FF but the same screen shows up. How do I get rid of it and get FF to work properly? (no comments on aol please, unless you want to teach my 92 year old Mom a new email program - and you'll be sorry!  :-)

Were you using AOL as your browser start page?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Thank you, Fred. I am on a pc.

When I clicked on the FF icon, this frozen page comes up and does not go anywhere.

Thanks so much for taking the time!

Another way out of the trap is to (force it if needed) Close Firefox. Wait about 20 seconds for Firefox to finish closing. Right-click on the Firefox icon and select Open New Window. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Sometimes this works. If it opens, close it by Menu > File > Exit. This will flush out that web page from the Session Store.

Use this on AOL; https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Clear+Recent+History#w_how-do-i-remove-a-single-website-from-my-history

Remove History For One Site

Open the History Manager <Control><Shift> H. In the search bar, enter the name of the site. Right-click on one of the listings and select Forget About This Site. This should remove all information, including any passwords / settings.
