Lenovo Yoga Book- Won't play Youtube videos

i can't be the only one having this specific problem on this specific device. Searched high & low, and cannot find anyone else running into this. Recently purchased this tablet, which comes with Chrome. However, i'm a long time firefox user. All my history & bookmarks are there. Sync worked just fine, but Youtube videos do not play on Firefox browser. They play just fine in Chrome, however i HATE Chrome! & it's inability to keep Youtube videos playing when i switch tabs. (If i wanted something so useless, i'd use the youtube app, which BTW only shows up on the Yoga Book tablet at about the size of my phone screen) So like i said, useless!

But anyways, at first the error message read- "Video can't be played because file is corrupt" i had no add-ons other than the automatic "Open H264 codec by Cisco Systems, Inc." i tried to install several flash player add-ons one at a time, then refreshing the youtube page, to the same result. i uninstalled them one at a time before trying another, and nothing worked. then the normal "An error occurred" message came up. So i clicked "Learn More", to which Youtube replied, "Your browser does not currently recognize the video formats available"

i've tried a number of add-ons once again, even firefox beta for android. all of which yielded the same result. Perhaps i'm supposed to relaunch firefox completely, instead of merely refreshing the page. However, i cannot find how to exit the browser, other than restarting the device. (so maybe that's where i'm going wrong, since html5 didn't work, flash didn't work, etc. etc)

i google-searched the error messages, and found this article, which is the closest thing to what i'm going thru- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1112452

But the About:Config commands pertain to Windows, not Android (really not so helpful) However, i still looked up media, html5, h264, and toggled what looked to be potentially problematic values one at a time, refreshing the youtube page, replaying & getting the same error result, then going back & resetting the config i just tinkered with.

Before i delve too deeply into blindly poking around & making an infuriating experiment out of my new tablet, (then throwing it against the wall) i thought i'd give asking the community a shot...
