In the last two weeks when I go to print and I want to change the printer to print only in black I get this message. I click okay and firefox crashes. I get a message that Acrobat plugin has crashed. I have not done anything to my printer. It tells me "The application sheet page may not function properly. I'm just a basic user so please don't get too technical but if you can help I would appreciate it. I can print fine in color.

Try updating to the latest version of Adobe Acrobat. See http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb11-08.html

You should in any event have a link to the printer manual on your desktop. They usually include a troubleshooting section which might provide a few clues.
