Bookmarks has cease to function completely.

Bookmarks has suddenley failed completely. All bookmarks have vanished and none of the functions will work. Have tried editing profile but unable to access that. Tried importing Favourites from Internet Explorer but although Firefox says it has been completed successfully, still will not work. Have even uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, no success.

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
