I am using Thunderbird and Firefox. Each are set as default on my MacBook. However, Thunderbird has recently started opening links in Safari instead of opening them in a new Firefox tab like it did just a couple of weeks ago. I cannot figure out how to make that stop. I've verified that Firefox is set as the default browser in my Mac's system settings. What caused this to change recently and how can I make it go back?

Chosen solution

See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/hyperlinks-in-messages-not-working Not working, not working correctly are basically the same thing and the same settings affect it.

Even though I had set Firefox as my default browser via MacOS System Settings, I followed the instructions (into a second link) and set it as default in the Firefox Preferences. All is right now.
