my wife's computer uses Spectrum webmail and Thunderbird to access her email. She uses Thunderbird all the time. Last night Spectrum did something so her password was deleted. We finally got webmail up and working with a new password, however, when she tries to access Thunderbird a message comes up and says to log into mail.brighthouse.com and put in the password. We tried this several times and the same message comes up without letting us use Thunderbird. Sorry we are seniors and this is driving us crazy,as my wife loves TBird.

Thanks Richard Buzzard buzzard2841@gmail.com

The following web page shows the settings you should use to configure the account in Thunderbird:

https://www.getmailbird.com/setup/access-brighthouse-com-via-imap-smtp

If the problem persists, post back including screenshots of your Thunderbird settings (so we may see whether they are correct), and what does the error message you get exactly say. The information you've provided so far is too vague.

Hi David I had a professional IT guy over here last night and he tried everything. Tried logging in with Brighthouse, Spectrum.net and many other configs. No Luck He wants me to ask if spectrum has dropped Thunderbird and one of their third party providers, because I cannot access Thunderbird I will send a some pics of Thunderbird screen

Makes no sense. The email provider doesn't have to support any mail client in particular, it just needs to provide POP and/or IMAP access and give you the configuration settings necessary to use it.

But you do need to know what those settings are supposed to be and set up the account in Thunderbird correctly according to those settings…
