sync stuck in a loop

I try to sync FF between a laptop and a desktop. Everytime I login and approve via email code I get the question to sync my mobile and the account icon gets a yellow triangle.

How do I sync between a laptop and a desktop properly?

I followed 5x the instructions that came with "please sign in to reconnect " but it just offers mobile sync and throws the browser out of the account again..
