Changing the Android operating system language to Mandarin Chinese apparently has an effect on the search engines that I am able to choose. Suddenly I cannot choose Duckduckgo as my default search engine anymore. How do I get Duckduckgo back as my default search engine when my system language is Mandarin Chinese, on Firefox for Android?

Chosen solution

That is expected. DDG does not focus on Chinese search results. Thus their results tend to be not as good as Bidu or other search engines that focus on people who speak Chinese.

You may be able to install https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/duckduckgo-ssl/ which should provide the search engine when using Chinese.

Thanks a lot. It worked to install the add-on.
