Password Manager worked fine until a few weeks ago. Now it won't do what it is supposed to do. It still asks for Master Password.

Do you have a problem with the master password?

Do you still see your passwords in the Password Manager?

  • Options/Preferences -> Security: Logins: "Saved Logins" -> "Show Passwords"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

It takes my Master Password and I can see all of my passwords. It won't fill in any passwords even in Safe Mode and default theme.

Do you get a drop-down list with a selection if you start typing the first letters of the user name?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

Yes I do and it filled in the correct password when I clicked on the user name the times I tried it but it doesn't fill in user name.

There are some web pages that do not allow browsers to record or fill in the log-in information. But if you go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) you can find several add-ons that can override this, and give you better control of your password information. You can also try a Form Filling add-on.
