I'm on OS X 10.7.5 and I launch Firefox Profile Manager via Terminal.

Once in the Profile Manager, no keyboard input is recognized so I'm unable to do anything. Keyboard input works in all other programs, including Firefox itself as well as Terminal.

This is not something that used to work before and then broke, rather this is my first attempt to use Profile Manager.

I'd love to make the switch from Chrome but I'm unable to do so without creating an additional profile.

Update on this, all of my keyboard inputs are displayed in Terminal and not in Profile Manager. If I exit Terminal, then Profile Manager closes out too

Try to create a new profile via the command line.
