How long until do I have to wait till my account will be able to be accessed? I reset my password…blah blah blah..but I continue to get this when trying to login.

What site are you trying to log in to? This site is (support.mozilla.org) so maybe you're having troubles with (addons.mozilla.org).

As far as I can see, your account isn't deactivated and if it was, your session would be killed as soon as we deactivate it. It's active right now

I had to create a new account to get on this..so yes it's support.mozilla.org!

What was the username of your old account? I can check to see if it was deactivated by another Moderator.

Not your e-mail address. I've removed that so robots can't pick it up.

I need your username. Your current username is kimbakat. What was the name you signed up with for previously?

Ah, okay. I'm stupid. Apparently, you've entered a wrong password too many times. You have to wait a while to log back in. I don't know exactly the time frame but you should try again tomorrow. In the meantime, you can go ahead and create a new thread at /questions/new if you need support with Firefox.

It might have been blewvelvet. Thanks

They need to fix that to a 30 minute lockout or something.

Thanks for checking..

Do you have a support question that you want to ask?

After all, the new account you logged in with seems to be working fine, correct?

Considering that you answered with "It might have been blewvelvet." Why not have us spend our time as support volunteers actually providing support, rather than to chasing down a "might have been" that involves a security feature of this website.

Yes..I asked the support question...and Moses was kind enough to nail it. I wanted to maintain my original account......like most people do. This support uses an EMAIL or USERNAME...so I did what most people did...requested a new password via email.

I did..and updated password...but it still locked me out. How was I supposed to ask a question if I could NOT LOGIN????

So being locked out..I was NOT able to REPLY or even post a question to support......so

So...a site is only as good as it's programmer.

You would think a programmer would be smart enough to "unlock an account" when a user has requested their password...and allowed you to change it...but nope...new password showed locked out? No login...no questions allowed.

Where would I go for support then?

I also find your "support comment" disturbing.

"Why not have us spend our time as support volunteers actually providing support,..."

Moses did provide support...and we found a pretty big BUG for login/user accounts in the process of getting a new and updated password.

I suggest YOU as a VOLUNTEER....you read the entire post first, comprehend it and brush up on your human skills in the process.

Chastizing users for finding their own solution to ACCESS the support area by creating a new account so they can actually communicate TO a support person.......is a bit disturbing.

...AND THANK YOU MOSES...for checking on that!!!

Courtesy and Understanding are skills you definitely have..they will take you far in business.

We're only Moderators. We can't do anything with your account besides deactivate it. You would have to take that up with Ricky Rosario, SUMO's lead developer.

I don't understand WHY you want the old account back. There's no reason to have two accounts (exception between a Moderator/Admin account and a normal "un-modded" contributor account for testing). Why don't you just keep your current one. It's not like you're losing anything major such as answers.

There's only two answers. Nothing worth saving. I'll bet Ed would be pissed if his 25,000 answers got erased.

I suggest just use your new one and forget about your old one.

Also, Ed is one of our best volunteers. No need to disrespect him. It's not a bug. And if it is, file a new bug on Bugzilla to report it. Keep in mind that anything besides Mozilla technical support is off-topic. Anything to do with the site's functions should be posted in the SUMO Contributors Forum

I felt disrespected as someone that was coming here seeking help while possibly finding a technical issue for the community.....and getting that response...while we were already working on it. so....

and yes..I would like my old account back...please.
