Location bar history doesn't scroll, only shows 12 random entries

In previous versions of Firefox, up to 2.0 (and also IE 7--I think), the browsing history that could be accessed by clicking on the down arrow of the location bar showed everything, single line, that had been entered since the last history deletion or time expiration. With 3.X, that function has been deleted (as with IE--did the creators get together and decide to jointly do something together?), when clicking on the down arrow on the location bar, only about 12 of the most recent entries show up, in no particular order. There is no way to scroll through the rest of the entries that are hiding and can't be seen. What is the logic for this, and can it be corrected. I'm still using 2.0 because it has that feature. Why did it leave?

The number of entries shown by Firefox 3 and above is controlled by the preference browser.urlbar.maxRichResults which is set at a default of 12 items.

You can set the number of items to be shown in about:config. Note in the article below about the preference that Firefox 3 and above must be exited and restarted after the preference is set.

Thanks to the two people who gave me the answer I was looking for. That does, though, bring up a couple more related questions. First, is there anyway to get rid of the "descriptive" first line of the history entries and just show the actual website? Second, is there a user's manual somewhere that has all this stuff in it, telling what happens when something is changed? As this is open source, I'd think there would be something like that.

Thanks again for the replies. I'll hope more are coming.
