I've been using Thunderbird on our pc for decades, but it I believe the last software update has corrupted the "Password Manager". Since then, almost every time I attempt to log in, I receive the message about my password is incorrect, even though I have changed and checked the box that states something like "use Password Manager" for it. This is naturally "driving me crazy". Is there going to be a fix or is it just my problem? Thank you!

I've safely saved many, many passwords in Firefox for a long time. Then one fine day a month or so ago, I found out that ALL of my passwords had been wiped out! Ever since then, I started saving my passwords in a .csv file and then uploaded the file to the Passwords page. The passwords keep getting wiped out anyway. I can't find a way to stop this from happening.

This is just a gripe. I have used your browser for years and I used to love it more than any other browsers. However, lately it is being updated (what seems like every week or more) all the time. Updates I don't mind but do you have to screw up my saved passwords and toolbars and settings. It also seems to never want to close. 75% of the time when I open my laptop and click on Firefox it tells me it's already open when I know I closed it. If all of this continues I will be looking for another browser.

I needed to change my AOL password and when I went to change it in Thunderbird I accidentally deleted the entire entry instead of just the password. Now I don't see a mechanism to reenter that information. I thought it might ask that if I simply tried to reconnect to the AOL mail, but I get the attached when I try even though that is the information I use to sign into AOL

Thoughts?

Thanks, John

Greetings, I must say I'm perplexed and dumfounded with my problem. Without rhyme or reason, when I check my email throughout the day I will notice that the email has not synced for a period of time. I then go to check my settings, in particular, the fetching email setting and the sending email setting, and when I test them to determine that they are working I get the screen that explains there is a problem with syncing. I then look at the passwords and they appear to be old passwords that are no longer used nor valid. I delete the old passwords, input the current and valid passwords and then test the connection and synchronization and they rapidly sync without any errors. I have 4 emails registered in my Thunderbird account and it happens randomly to all 4of the emails. I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone. Needless to say, I spend a bit of time continually having to go to settings, delete the old password, enter the new one, and then everyone good. At least for a short while. I'm not sure if I stumped you guys with this one, or, hopefully, someone else has experienced the same thing. Duplicity if this problem excited me, not because the problem exists, but because sometime else has experienced the same thing and I would feel at ease knowing that I am not going insane. I hope you guys can help me with this. Please let me know whatever steps you think I should take to start sleuthing for a solution. My fingers are crossed. Also, I would like to extend many thanks and my gratitude for the tireless effort you all contribute selflessly to the support and maintenance of a wonderful app, and the continual persistence of if the project for all these years. Oh I almost forgot to mention that I saw a link for the opportunity to use/test the Beta Version, but suddenly I am unsure a to whether I should proceed with setting the beta up. I'm not sure if it will complicate the potential for a solution to my problem, or if the Beta App is completely separate and isolated from the Current stable release. If you have a chance, let me know how I should handle the Beta install. A simple STOP! Do not install, or it's okay, carry on. Have a great day! Gregory Gonzalez. greg@uglytexan.com

Please excuse the length of this but it's necessary.

Began using Thunderbird (TB) in June, 2026 accessing email from wowway using POP3 (I know not imap, but old habits die hard). Changed password on wow in July and changed it in TB. Thereafter, and up until yesterday, TB was unable to logon to wow. However, the new PW allowed access to emails by browser logon to wow; old PW failed as it should. Frustrated with not being able to use TB with new PW: - deleted AppData/Roaming/Thunderbird folder (profiles and all) - recovered a backed up copy of TB folder from mid June when things were working and copied it to AppData/Roaming. Bingo, was able to get and send emails. Puzzled, looked at TB Saved Passwords and verified the old PW was being used. To verify this, I sent an email to myself, pressed F5 to get mail and it was in the inbox, and also on wow server.. BOTTOM LINE: There is no question that TB is using an old, changed wow PW. And if PW in TB is changed to new PW, access to wow fails. How can this be? Help please.

I have 10 email accounts I have to monitor. When I set up Thunderbird on Windows, I entered all the account info and the passwords. I checked the box 'use password manager'. This worked well for a few days. After several days, I started the app again and it asked for every password again. I entered all the passwords again. This happened several more times. I sought help for the bug, but found none. Someone suggested deleting password database files in the Thunderbird data folders. This did not help. Someone else suggested that CCleaner may be deleting password data files, so I added the entire Thunderbird data folder to the scanner exclusion list. Yes, this may be a security risk, but I need this app to work, as I have not found any other app that even begins to get the job done. Ready to start looking for another email app now, unless someone can fix this problem. It is not reasonable to expect me to lookup and restore 10 passwords every time I check my mail.

Thunderbird seems to have replaced my login password for comcast.net with a bogus, several hundred character long password.

I have been using Thunderbird for several years to read and send my Comcast.net email. As of 5/23/26 Thunderbird is no longer showing my new emails. However, when I login directly to my Comcast.net email account their are plenty of new emails.

I thought that perhaps Thunderbird is using the wrong password to try to get my comcast.net email. So I examined my password by going to Menu > Settings > Privacy & Security > Saved Passwords , which opens the "saved logins" window. Then I pressed "show passwords." I found that instead of showing my usual comcast.net password, it showed something that is bogus and several hundred characters long. I right clicked on the bogus password, selected "edit password" and entered my usual correct password. The "saved logins" window then showed the correct password. Finally I closed the "saved logins" window.

Then I opened the "saved logins" window again and confirmed that the password was still correct.

Then I exited Thunderbird and restarted it. Usually, when I start Thunderbird it simply opens my inbox window and shows me my new emails. But now a separate browser window opened from xfinity (comcast) showing my email account name and asking me to sign in. I pressed the "Let's Go" button and is prompted me for my password to the comcast.net account, which I entered. This password was entered in a browser window with URL "https://login.xfinity.com/login" so it seems legitimate. The browser window then disappeared and I assumed Thunderbird would now show my emails.

Sadly, Thunderbird did not show updated emails. So I went back to Menu > Settings > Privacy & Security > Saved Passwords and checked the password. For some reason is had changed to another, different, bogus and several hundred characters long.

I have attached a screen shot of the "Saved Logins" window showing the bogus password and another screenshot of the entire bogus passwords before and after I entered the correct password.

I have been pleased with Thunderbird for a long time, but this has me worried.

Can you give advice?
