Hello everyone,

I've recently noticed that Firefox has become slower than usual. Some websites take a long time to load, and occasionally the browser feels unresponsive even though my internet connection seems to be working fine. I've already tried restarting Firefox and clearing the cache, but the issue still occurs.

Has anyone experienced something similar or found a solution that improved Firefox's performance? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello! Since the latest update to Firefox (153, I believe) my Firefox has not worked. It starts up perfectly fine, but quickly freezes, becomes non-responsive, and needs to be closed. No matter how many times I attempt to open it, the same thing occurs. There’s been been occasions where it hasn’t frozen immediately so I have been able to turn off hardware acceleration as well as remove my theme and disable all my add-ons/extensions, but this has done nothing. Creating a new profile does not help, nor does trying Safe Mode: the same thing happens no matter what. I tried to reinstall the update, but this also did nothing. I haven’t yet tried to uninstall & reinstall or do a Firefox refresh as those are my last resorts and I won’t do them unless I’m sure they’ll make a difference. I haven’t downloaded any new extensions recently, and this only started happening after the most recent update. I’m not sure what else I can try at this point, and am very frustrated.

Hello, After the last update i keep seeing a blank page when i open a new tab or new page. i tried the troubleshooting mode but the same. i need to refresh every time i open a new page.

Firefox exhibits significant performance and usability issues related to its cookie and data storage management. Despite implementing ad blocker extensions, the browser remains saturated with cookies and persistent advertisements. Regularly clearing browsing data and cookies is necessary; however, navigating to the settings menu is time-consuming. I recommend developing a browser widget that facilitates rapid data clearing directly from the toolbar or frame. Additionally, implementing a session-saving feature to preserve a set of pinned tabs upon closing and reopening the browser would enhance workflow efficiency, allowing for a quick start with a predefined workspace.

This is all happening while using it for simple tasks like search or copying a text.

Furthermore, the browser experiences severe performance degradation when utilizing certain web applications, such as Kapwing for video editing. Since uninstalling Vivaldi, I am considering migrating to an alternative browser due to these issues. Tasks that typically require one minute are now prolonged to hours, as the browser intermittently becomes unresponsive, effectively limiting usability. This sluggishness persists even after system restarts, with CPU utilization reaching approximately 50%, as detailed in the attached performance report. Notably, I encountered a significant delay—up to an hour—to correct a single spelling error or open a new tab, indicative of underlying performance bottlenecks.

Please address these issues to improve browser stability and usability.

On a new laptop with Win11 Home (x86-64) with Firefox just installed, the cache size is 54 MB. When Privacy and Security -> Clear Browsing Data is clicked, Firefox hangs - no input is accepted and nothing appears to be happening. On closing Firefox and then reopening the cache size is reduced and Clear Browsing Data operates as expected.

Why is the cache size (54 MB) so large? Why does Clear Browsing Data hang Firefox?

Добрый день. Сегодня обновился у меня браузер до последней версии и перестал нормально открывать странички сайтов открывает и через время зависает почините пожалуйста скрин смотрите вот так все зависает и не отвисает

Was using computer and was interrupted by Firefox update. Got the "See What's New" window, closed it to have Firefox open in the new tab. Won't open, tried three times got nit responding each time. Shut down computer, started over. Booted up abd Firefox partially opened and now, again, not responding. When I close it reports to Microsoft. Try to open again, same result.

My Firefox browser was updated to the most recent version (153.0). And since then, it will always freeze up within a few minutes of me opening it, even in troubleshooting mode. Even if I keep clicking, it’s still stuck and I’m forced to close it.

I did turn off hardware acceleration before, and it still doesn’t work.

When my system slows down and takes forever to download, I go to task manager and find 15-20 entries for Firefox when I have only 1 or 2 pages open. Why are they continuing to pile up and slow down my machine and how do I stop it from happening?

My keyboard is stucking while searching on firefox , even after pressing enter it doesn't goes i had tried with floating keyboard it doesn't stucked, also tried with another keyboard and address bar at bottom it doesn't get worked, please solve this problem or i would shift to another browser

I have tried safe mode. No joy, but it has shown plain vanilla FF is the issue, not extensions.

(I'm using a different browser to make this report, so Share Data button is of no use here.)

Watching any Bilibili live stream causes severe performance issues. The main problems I can observe are intermittent severe mouse cursor stuttering/frame drops or the cursor becoming unresponsive, accompanied by the taskbar process (explorer.exe) intermittently restarting.

I have tried disabling the Picture-in-Picture feature and tampermonkey add-on, modifying the Windows 11 registry to turn off MPO (Multiplane Overlay), adjusting browser hardware acceleration, and tweaking related settings in about:config, but none of these have been able to prevent the issue.

Noticed that Firefox on IOS was updated about 17 hours ago, so that may explain the current issue. When I open the app on my phone, it will be on the page I was last on, but would be frozen. Cannot add a new tab. Cannot add an address to in address bar. Nothing can be done u til I force quit the app, and then reopen the app afterwards (as long as I give it a couple seconds afterwards). Didn’t have this issue the day before.

For the past month this browser has been really slow. I have cleared cache, deleted all history and its really slow. I'm using starlink for internet. any suggestions

My Dell Precision Laptop from 2019 runs a frequently updated Ubuntu 24.04. About one or two weeks ago, after one of the latest Firefox updates, i noticed that video streaming produces rectangular flickering in rapid sweeps. ( Also fast scrolling large text websites produces similar flickering, I think I would have noticed it before...) . If you detected it once, you see it always again... :-( First I fiddled around with the nvidia settings because the driver was also recently updated, without much success. Playing locally stored videos, e.g. with VLC media player, still works fine, so the nvidia driver is not the problem i think. Yesterday I installed Chromium and the video performance is fine! As good as with firefox some weeks ago! So it must be one of the latest updates, that causes the problem. Generally I like firefox more than chromium. I like the control you have, e.g. via Add ons.. So I hope that the firefox performance will increase again... Thank you for firefox! Florian Mengedoht
