v 91.0.1 on Mac Tried 2 ways. No effect. - Settings >> Privacy and Security >> Cookies and Site Data >> Manage Data, or Clear Data--both leave cookies after Removing or Clearing All. Looks like 16 MB of cookies remain--from 2-3 weeks old. Tried repeatedly-- the list is cleared (while selecting remove All), then immediately comes back in entirety once I check again.

- Menu >> History >> Clear Recent History >> Clear All, "Everything" >> No effect.

- I deleted a Firefox profile that was not in use. No effect.

THX for guidance. best to All.

I was disturbed to find in a test for v2 and v4 icc support from the color.org website (International Color Consortium), "Is your system ICC Version 4 ready", which Firefox failed.

I found out that what the ICC refers to as "system" references browsers. My computer is an iMac OS X 10.13.6 and my Firefox is v93. The test is https://www..color.org/version4html.xalter. There is a link that brings the test up in PDF, which I think is necessary as the link itself seems to be only a picture.

Other photography sites have pointed this use of the word "system" out for, in my case, Safari and Chrome for instance. I tried Safari and ran the PDF test. It passed. I tried Firefox again (and again) it failed every time. Other people have had the same result, as in the following quote, "...Houston we have a problem...".

One of the most helpful websites I have found for this, mostly from fine photography sites, was https://gregbenzphotography.com/photography-tips/how-to-setup-proper-color-management-in-a-web-browser. This website had six tests for browsers. Firefox passed every test except test #6. Using Safari, it passed all including test #6. You could try it with Chrome.

This website, and many others, suggested a Firefox enabling correction that starts with typing into a Firefox address bar about:confg click, and after some scary warnings, type in gfx.color_management.mode (set to 1), click, then gfx.color_management.enablev4 (set to true), click, then gfx.color_management.rendering_intent. (set to 1 relative colorimetric--or to 0 for us Philistines). Restart Firefox.

Didn't work, Firefox still failed. I tried this many times, same result. Read the last sentence of the Summary on that website.

I'm sad to do this, but sending my even relatively elementary images to an outside printer, using PDF/X1a to KDP or IngramSpark for instance, I'll use Safari because I don't trust what Firefox might do. If anyone knows a way for Firefox to pass muster with the ICC, I will gladly use it.

Hi there

Whenever I use the open/save dialog all the active "Finder extensions" spawn a child process even if they already have one running. I'm not sure this is a Firefox bug or a macos (api) bug. I have the Betterzip and Graphicconverter Extensions active. This seems to have started with version 92 and/or 93. In the beginning everything seems alright, but after a while the finder/system begins to beachball for 20-30 seconds. When I then try to quit firefox the whole system becomes unresponsive and I have to power-off with the switch.

This is with the latest macos 11.6 and FF 93.

Kind regards,

I recently came across a website listing adjustments to Firefox's about:config settings. These are supposedly done to help make the browser more secure. Modifications to browser.safebrowsing.phishing.enabled,and after, are what I'm most curious about - mostly since the name Google is attached.

Others: - dom.event.clipboardevents.enabled [copy and paste tracking] - network.http.sendRefererHeader [hyperlink tracking]

Website for reference: https://proprivacy.com/privacy-service/guides/firefox-privacy-security-guide

I understand a lot can change within a year, but before breaking something, I wanted to ask if changing any of the above settings, particularly those having to do with Google, will cause damage to the browser itself. -thx

Using Firefox browser for iMac. Recently (10/10/2021) attempted to download .aax files from Audible.com. Files were unexpectedly converted to .mp4 files, making files unusable by iBooks. Conferred with Audible Tech support. Audible Tech confirmed that .aax files are the proper format and that they did not/do not make any format conversions on their end. Audible Tech then suggested trying download with Safari. Download (of .aax files with Safari) was successful and maintained proper (.aax) format. Audible Tech said that he had not encountered this issue before and that it seemed to him that the Firefox browser may be responsible for the unexpected conversion. In the past I have used Firefox many times to successfully download .aax files from Audible.com, most recent prior to this problem was on (9/11/2021). I am notifying you simply to advise that you may have a programing glitch within the download programing portion of the latest version of Firefox (ver. 93.0 - 64 bit) for iMac(s).

What's the story with Firefox being so madly in love with iTunes, the moment I open Firefox, iTunes opens. Worse even. I can't close iTunes. It keeps opening up until I close Firefox.

Is this some kind of another MANDATE now? Part of the NWO? You MUST accept iTunes to jump into your face if you use Firefox?

Makes me dump this piece of intrusive waste for good, really. I am so sick and tired of this Tech-Tyranny ruling our brains, telling us what we MUST WANT and accept.

I've written about this before, but no help? I'm using Firefox Mac 78.15 (up to date). When I go to CNN and select a video, a thumbnail (still image) of the video appears, but no player with controls, so no video. When I do the same on Chrome, I get a video in a video player, which plays just fine. Also, all other videos on FIrefox (YouTube Fox News, etc.) play just fine?

I am on macOS Mojave and since the last Firefox update, I have been experiencing problems when printing a PDF attachment in my email. When I open the attachment, it opens in html which is fine. Then when I click print, a new tab opens with the printer settings, etc. but Firefox also launches a new browser, not just a new tab in the same browser. I have tried to change the print settings, reset the print settings, etc. but it has not helped. I can print the same attachment in another browser, such as chrome or safari without any issues.

The attached image shows my browser in the background with the pdf and printer window open in one tab and then the newly launched browser in the foreground which is blank.

Firefox suddenly saving Audible files as mpeg4 video files instead of aax

For some reason when downloading audiobooks from Audible, the download window in Firefox is categorizing the files as mpeg4 (video) files using the .mp4 file extension. However, unlike audio .mp4 files, Firefox is encoding them as VIDEO .mp4 files. The files do not open in iTunes nor media player as (obviously) they aren't actually video files.

The files download properly as .aax files in Safari and Chrome so this is a Firefox issue and a recent one at that; thus, it could be related to the recent Version 93 update. There are a few others who have mentioned this issue in the community forum, but as far as I can tell no one at Mozilla has actually addressed the issue or offered help.

Yes, you can change the file extension to .aax once downloaded and it opens fine. The point is that there is no discernible reason the files should be categorized as video files in the first place, and since this function has been working for years until recently this seems like a bug the Mozilla team should fix.

Hi all, For years, I have used Firefox to download audiobooks from Audible.com. I go to Audible.com, open my library, click download, and then a pop up shows the .aax file I'm going to download. The problem - In the past week, the pop up window now shows that I'm about to download a .mp4 file. That doesn't play nice with Apple Books or my iPhone. I've called Audible several times, but they haven't been able to help. If I use Safari, the .aax file is downloaded correctly. This is a Firefox issue. Any ideas here?

Thanks for your time and help! --Scott
