Hello, how can I stop unwanted action by Firefox, on my Firefox homepage, from removing my 4 rows of shortcuts saved on Sep-23-2023, and replacing them today (Aug-05-2024) with Firefox’s recommended shortcuts that I do not want?

I have tried clearing the browser’s cache and cookies, disabling extensions, and ensuring that Firefox is up to date, but the problem persists.

I'm trying to use a security key for my Vanguard site. I've tried with Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Chrome. I can get to almost the end but get stopped-- I can't get no father to "connect and activate." I get a message saying--"Vanguard is requesting extended information about your security key which may affect your privacy. Firefox can anonymize this for you but the website might decline this key. If declined try again." I talked to Vanguard for help but they didn't know how to help. The key is uTrust FIDO2 NFC. USB-A NFC Certified Security Key. I believe the problem may be that this key will link all my accounts in Firefox ( and will also link if I use any other browser.)

I got the following from the internet: When it says authenticators it means Security Key.

Using an authenticator for one account is safe, but allowing a website to ask for extended information for multiple accounts using the same authenticator can permit that website to identify a link between those accounts. If you are concerned about having accounts linked together in this way, you should either deny extended information when prompted, or use different authenticators for the different accounts. This linkability is based on the authenticators, and not on your browser. If you use the same authenticator with different browsers, websites can still identify a link between multiple accounts. What I Have Tried:

I have already tried the following steps to resolve the issue, but unfortunately, they haven't worked:

Cleared the browser cache and cookies. Disabled all browser extensions and plugins to check for potential conflicts. Updated Firefox to the latest version. Checked the website’s compatibility settings and ensured it adheres to modern web standards. Tested the website in Firefox’s Safe Mode to rule out any issues caused by custom settings or extensions.

This is a new problem, I've only had on this new device, previously when closing tabs, they wouldn't move till the mouse had been moved away.

Now, they move in the fraction of a second before the tab closes, which frequently means a different tab is now under the mouse and then that tab that I didn't want to close, closes.

I'm not sure what the problem was since I imported my profile from my previous device. Maybe there's something in the config that I can change to fix this?

The issue that you can no longer cut and paste selections from the web page continues. I have the latest version of Firefox on Windows 10.

It must be a Firefox only issue, as the fist time I try to select, the Copy Menu is grayed out. So I use Select All. This still does not copy the text. After trying to paste the text and failing, I go through the whole process a second time and ths time it does copy and paste the text. This indicates that the process can work but Firefox is preventing it on the first pass.

'When I try to sign in to Facebook on my laptop, it says that I am using the wrong password. But that password works for Facebook on my iPad and my iPhone. I'm wondering whether simply changing the password is a solution or whether this situation indicates something else is going on.

On many site where I try to login, when I hit the LOGIN button nothing happens. This does not happen if I open a private window. I am on version 129.0.2.

The latest update also seems to force Firefox to occasionally run at turtle speed. Any time there is an update Firefox will slow the whole computer to turtle speed. When I reboot, Firefox can take up to 15 minutes to fully load if there is more than one window to load.

Is there a fix for all this? Thanks

'I wonder if Firefox could be the source of a problem that I have recently encountered. All of the online subscriptions, clothing accounts (Lands End, LLBean, etc.) no longer accept my user names or passwords. Could the problem originate in a change in Firefox?

I frequently have the problem of accidentally detaching tabs when I am trying to drag them left and right to reorder them. The interface seems more sensitive than I would like. The unwanted detaching of tabs happens to me many times a day and is jarring and causes me to lose a lot of time trying to put the tabs back. I would like the interface to be less sensitive, i.e. to make me drag it much farther up or down in order to detach the tab. If the feature to fine-tune the sensitivity of the tab-break-off is not implemented, I want the ability to turn it off, so that I can reorder tabs by dragging them left and right without having to worry about them detaching.

I searched and found an 8-year-old request from another user for the same thing, and it had been closed, and linking the user to third-party extensions adding this functionality. However, the extensions were not monitored by Mozilla for security.

This was a non-solution to me. I want this solution either to be built-into the browser, or to be offered in an extension that is monitored for security by the official team.

On a number of occasions I've experienced a debilitating computer crash, apparently when Firefox wants to update, requiring me to force a shutdown. What kind of psychopathy is it that makes things like this happen? Would it be possible to have a notice with a stated TIME for the update and a way to regulate it? I lost 4 hours of work this time, and it's happened before.
