All of a sudden, my default search engine changed to Google. I didn't do it and don't want it. The "settings" still show Firefox as my default, but it doesn't stop Google from hijacking my searches. I want to get rid of it.
why does my search engine change to ones other than the one I specified? (Amazon and perplexity for instance) They aren't even checked in my search shortcuts'

I would rather just search the internet for "something: text".
How can I do that?
I've tried to play with parameters like network.protocol-handler.expose.something network.protocol-handler.app.something network.protocol-handler.external.something network.protocol-handler.warn-external.something
