When using fireftp I use the FTP Username and Password to login but then when I try to connect I get "password not shown" in the bottom left corner. Why?

this is what the box at the bottom shows:

331 User XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX@XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.com OK. Password required

      PASS (password not shown)
this is what the box at the bottom shows: 331 User XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX@XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.com OK. Password required PASS (password not shown)

Chosen solution

Many terminal-style applications suppress the password from appearing in the communication log, to keep it secure from anyone who might later read the log. I think FireFTP is emulating that. Is it important to be able to view the password?
