I tried to verify my plug-in's and all are enabled. I found where was suggested to remove and reinstall Firefox but that did not fix problem either. I tried to change viewer for videos but still no luck. Not certain why Quicktime doesn't work. Note, videos when browsing will not open but everything else works fine. Videos work fine with windows Explorer, but not Firefox.

Chosen solution

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Hi, do you have Adobe Flash player installed? :)

more options

Yes, I have Add-on Adobe Shockwave Flash player 11.7.700.169 last updated on April 15th, 2013. Still did not work after the recent update?

Included is a screen shot of what most videos appear like.

I found in the plug-ins something called JAVA (TM) Platform SE U9 10.9.2.5 and disabled it but videos still do not work. I tried to delete the plug-in but no success. Please advise?

Still unable to remove the bad Java plug in which is red. I can disable it but still doesn't let video's play. I am not so tech savoy that I can spend countless hours trying to figure this out. How can I completely remove firefox and just reinstall? I tried removing but all the crap and settings just come back.

Do plugins like Flash work via the testing pages?

I am down to completely removing Firefox and reinstalling it fresh. but after trying the darn thing came back exactly as before with all same plug-ins etc. Still does not work.

I continue to try and get FF to work but no success to date. I came across a link called tomshardware.com (and other links too) which advises that FF will not properly play video's with a 64 bit machine. I tried completely removing FF and installed Google Chrome in it place and GC doesn't play videos either. I suppose I could re-install FF but not clear why it worked before for all videos and now it doesn't? Please advise of next step?
