Avast sometimes warns me of Firefox and Java being insecure and out of date, but only when running Firefox. After such a warning I tried updating from FireFox's 'About' window. It soon got stuck, reporting 'Downloading update - 6.4 M of 10.1 M' for an hour, on the release update channel. I had given up and started to note details on a Notepad file when it finished quickly, which means I can't be sure about the 6.4 M of 10.1. This is on a Sony Vaio notebook with Windows Vista. I have no problem updating Internet Explorer. I can't install the Troubleshooting thing because I have to click Restart to Update to see if the update I was trying to do has worked.
