red time bar across page

suddenly today i have the day of week, date, and time sitting on my firefox pages, in all tabs, along the left side of the page towards the bottom. if i scroll up, it replicates, and then there are 4 or 5 at 1 to 2" intervals. they look like the date and time in the top right of my screen except they sit in a bright red background that obscures any text below. really annoying.

fixed it myself by repairing permissions
